A saw came in with a stripped ignition coil bolt hole. I have never done a helicoil or a timesert so was wondering what would be the best fix. The part number to the bolt is 725529206 or 725529356. Dont know much about bolts, threads, etc especially when it to metric so I need help finding the right kit or if the even make one that small.
A torx bolt that secures the ignition coil pack is stripped (at the head - not the threads). Any suggestions on how to extract it? I can't get access to the sides of the bolt because it is recessed in the coil pack. Would any screw extractor kit work or does anyone have a recommendations on... you could try using a slightly longer bolt. an old mechanics trick is to use a 1/4 x 20 bolt. a 1/4 x 20 is just a tad bit larger than a 6mm and will thread in the striped 6mm hole with a little force, it will work just fine for holding in the coil and when you have the valve covers off, you can fix it right.

Re: stripped threads Are the stripped threads in the engine block or the elbow/intake manifold. If it is a through hole you can sometimes grind down a nut and put in a longer bolt. If a blind hole or no room for above use a Heli-Coil. You may dammage the coil pack doing this but i assume that you are replacing it anyway. After you remove the coil pack you can remove the screw by cutting it off flush with the bracket and drilling the hole out, you can secure your new coil pack with a screw and a bolt from the bottom. I'm not sure about other engines.
